PREPARING FOR TOMORROW
We believe that teenagers are a vital part of the Church of today.
They will be the leaders of the Church of the future. Therefore,
the purpose of the Teen Ministries at Pekin Bible Church is to assist parents
in training up their youth in God's Word and Faith in Jesus Christ, developing
their understanding of and participation in the life of the Body of Christ,
from the teen years onto adulthood. With this purpose in mind we
have:
A FOCUS ON RELATIONSHIPS
We stress the teen's relationship to God, to others in the youth group,
and to the entire church. Our desire is that each teenager have a
personal relationship with God through salvation in Jesus Christ.
A DESIRE FOR MINISTRY
We desire that a teenager's personal walk with God affect his or her attitude
and behavior towards others. The Youth Ministries introduce young
people to Bible study, group activity, and participation in ministry.
The goal is for young people to grow in these areas and gain increased
responsibility for ministry to friends and others.
A COMMITTED STAFF
We believe that a vital youth ministry begins with committed parents and
adults from within the church body. The teens and their parents are
brought into planning and directing of the Teen Ministry as much as possible.
Our staff strives to know and be involved with the young people's lives
in order to communicate loving care and support as they grow in their relationship
with Jesus Christ.
Sunday School is a great place to study God's Word together. Our
staff is eager to develop relationships with the teens and help them grow
in their knowledge and walk with God. The teens gather for an opening
time of announcements and fellowship then break into two groups to ensure
an environment that is personal for discussion and prayer. We have
classes for Jr. High (7th and 8th grade) and Sr. High (9-12th grade).
Monthly Schedule:
- 1st Sunday Night - Activity for all teens
- 2nd Sunday Night - Care Groups
- 3rd Sunday Night - Hang Out Time for Sr. High
- 4th Sunday Night - Hang Out Time for Jr. High
Wednesday Nights
6:30
- 8:00 P.M.
The weekly meetings include a time for sharing, singing, and challenge
from the Word of God. There are also special
activities, outings, or
periodic service projects that are planned together by teens and leaders.
Throughout the year the teens can participate in dramas and special youth
services. The leaders also encourage the teens to seek and take on
ministry and outreach opportunities throughout the year.
In the summer, the teens have the opportunity to participate in special
activities, missions trips, and youth conferences. The desire is
to provide teens with training and opportunity to work together and experience
real outreach first hand. This gives a greater vision and motivation
for ministry, evangelism, and missions that will continue with them for
a lifetime.
